Mining anchor rods

2025-12-08

Mining anchor rods are the core components for supporting coal mine tunnels. They achieve active reinforcement by anchoring the surrounding rock, and are widely used in various engineering fields such as coal mines, tunnels, and slopes. Here is a detailed introduction:

Basic Function

The mine anchor rods enhance the stability of the rock layer through prestress, preventing cave-ins. The working principle is to bind the surrounding rock of the roadway together, enabling the surrounding rock to support itself and increasing the cohesion and internal friction angle of the rock mass.

Structure and Materials

‌Structure‌: It is divided into the free section (for transmitting prestress) and the anchoring section (enhancing stability through adhesive), the entire rod body is rolled with continuous threads, and the tail end is equipped with a prestress pad and a ball-shaped nut.

Material: Mainly made of 20MnSi steel, with a yield strength of ≥ 335 MPa and a tensile strength of ≥ 455 MPa. Specifications range from φ16 to φ22 millimeters.

Main types

‌Resin anchor rods‌: Using resin as the adhesive, they have high anchoring force but are more costly.

Pipe-joint type anchor rod: Full-length frictional anchoring, with a large initial anchoring force (3-7 tons), suitable for soft rock and soil.

Spiral anchor rods: No need for drilling and grouting, quick construction, suitable for various soil layers.

Fast-hardening Expanding Cement Anchor Rod: Quick setting and early strength, suitable for emergency projects.
